Despite Political Drama and Ban Huawei Still Going Strong

Despite the ongoing political drama between the US and China and the recent Huawei ban from the US, Huawei is still going strong and making waves higher than ever. Huawei announced that the revenue of the first 3 quarters of 2019 increased 24..4% compared to last year.

Huawei reported that the profits this year increased by 8.7 % and total revenue this year till now top US$86.2 billion compared to US$102.2 billion last year. and beat Apple with 17% global market share in ist 2 quarters of 2019.

The Company was under pressure due to accusations made by the US and its Allies over security concerns which Huawei and denied and said it is an IT Solution Company and its main focus is to build ICT infrastructure and Smartphones and improve the efficiency of its operations worldwide.

US Huawei Ban and Possible Side Effects

In May the US banned Huawei due to security concerns. And banned its companies from using Huawei networking equipment. which could be used for backdoor spying and warned its citizens and Allies not to trust Huawei as the Chinese Government can use Huawei devices to spy on the US and its allies citizens and violate their privacy and steal sensitive information. which Huawei firmly denies.

In the wake of the US Huawei ban, China could also retaliate by banning Apple. which would be a significant blow for the US economy. Apple is the world's 3rd largest smartphone maker after Samsung and Huawei.

According to Goldman Sachs if China was to ban Apple. Apple could lose 29 percent of its profits.

China is responsible for 17 percent of Apple's total sales. according to a survey in China most rich people use Chinese made phones from Huawei and other companies and poor to middle-class people

use  Apple phones.

There were some talks recently that Apple is moving its manufacturing to India which will help grow its market in India which second largest country in the world and India's economy is one of the fastest-growing economies.

India move could be very good for Apple if China bans Apple, cause labor costs in India would be very low compared to China. but Apple will need to face immediate difficulties in India.

According to Goldman Sachs, such a move will only be considered if Apple is thinking of moving its manufacturing operations permanently to India. and this will have significant on China's tech ecosystem and local labor.

Apple is not the only American company working in China. China has recently increased its duties if the Apple ban comes a lot of other American companies will move out of China also in response.

So whether its Huawei Ban or Apple Ban US ban or China Ban both countries will suffer economically.

Huawei's New Operating System

in the wake of the Huawei ban by the US. the tech giant Google also suspended its support for future android updates on Huawei phones. 

Soon after the Google ban, Huawei Announced that it's working on its own operating system. and wanted to Huawei appstore to compete with the Google app store. and wanted developers to publish apps on the Huawei app store.

Huawei announced that its operating system is maybe called HongMeng.which is now called Harmony OS which is reportedly faster than android. Huawei said it does not consider Harmony OS to be a replacement for android. and Huawei could dual boot it with android. and Huawei OS is predicted to compete globally in  2 years.

And May released a cheap Huawei device powered by its operating system Harmony OS in 2019. in august company pushed back the launch of its latest model because it was reportedly working on Google maps alternative.

5G Technology and Huawei

Huawei not only sells smartphones but also telecommunication devices and is the leader in the 5G race. 5G is one of the most important parts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

With 5G we will have access to the lightning-fast internet and will directly impact our lives. 5G is very important for smart devices and will play key role in the health sector, IoT , self-driving cars, in short, it will be everywhere. 

some people say 5G is the reason behind the Huawei ban because the US doesn't want China to develop 5G before them. the US is the world leader and wants to keeps it that way. that's why it banned Huawei and warned its allies to not use Huawei 5G infrastructure.

Despite all this Huawei is still going strong in Europe. recently Huawei and Sunrise co-build a 5G research Switzerland. and Huawei founder also expressed his confidence by saying that "UK will not say no to us" in its 5G rollout.

Norway also said that it won't ban the company from its 5G rollout. and Germany also ignored the EU warning on Huawei 5G risk and decided to keep its doors open for Huawei.

Not only Europe but Asian countries also are more than willing to work with Huawei to built their 5G infrastructure. The Malaysian telecom company also joined Huawei for 5G.

United Arab Emirates said that Huawei's US ban is not an issue for its 5G network. The Pakistani telecom company also achieved 1GBPS on its 5G network in Pakistan.

Are Huawei Phones Safe?

So the Million dollar question is are Huawei phones safe to use or not? will my privacy be violated or not? recently some leaked documents suggested that Huawei secretly helped build the North Korea wireless network. if this is true then it will raise a lot of eyebrows.

According to Bloomberg Huawei employees also worked on Chinese military research projects. to be honest the Chinese government is not very serious about protecting its citizen's privacy. if you look at it WhatsApp, Facebook is banned and accessing Google is also very difficult.

All of these are banned because the Chinese government cannot track your activities if you are using these websites or apps. well i would not trust Facebook either :). for example, WeChat is Chinese Whatsapp alternative. Whatsapp is banned in China because it uses end to end encryption to make your data private and not accessible by others.

All these things raise some alarms but we are not completely sure that Samsung, Google and Apple devices are secure and they are not used to monitor our activities. 

so it is up to you to decide whether Huawei phones are safe or not. in my opinion you should be careful don't put too many personal things on the internet specially on social media websites.

Will Huawei Survive?

Huawei is the world's 2nd largest smartphone maker and world's top telecommunication company and the recent surge in profit and revenue despite the Huawei US ban suggests that it's not going anywhere and is here to stay.

Chinese Government is behind Huawei the same way the US is backing Apple. China will make sure that Huawei survives in every worst-case possible and become the world's largest smartphone maker.

Same goes for the US will do anything to come on top and don't let China dominate the US

market.

But the recent events prove that US Huawei ban does not affect Huawei progress very much and will still dominate the world market
