Saturn Moons : Astronomers Have Found 20 New Moons Around Saturn Orbit

You probably heard that our Universe is Big but how big is it. Researchers estimate there are around 2 trillion galaxies in our universe. this is just an estimate keep it in mind it could be more or it could be less. in Milky Way where we are there are more than 200 Billions Stars. You know what Stars are right? Our Sun is a Star and there is at least one Planet orbiting each star.

there are 8 planets in our Solar System sorry Pluto we don't deserve you orbiting our Sun. And then comes Moons. Moons are astronomical Bodies that orbit planets our planet earth has only one Moon. even mars which is a lot smaller has two moons Phobos and Deimos but both are very small when compared to our moon.

Now is the time of Real Kings we all know named after the Roman God Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System and it should have the most number of moons right? NO Saturn which is named after Roman God Jupiter's Father has the most number of moons orbiting it. if you are big that does not mean you will have more kids the same is the case for Jupiter at least for now you never what happens next.

A team of scientists lead by renowned Scientist Scott Sheppard of Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C discovered 20 new moons orbiting Saturn which ended Jupiter's reign of having the most moons 79. but now with the new Discovery Saturn has the most number of moons 82. New moons discovered orbiting Saturn are very small just 5 kilometers in diameters and 17 of them orbit in retrograde, meaning opposite to the Saturn Rotation and one of the 20 new moons is now farthest known moon from Saturn. Scott Sheppard also discovered 12 moons around Jupiter last year.

Why this Discovery is Important?

All this proves that we have still a lot to learn about our own Solar System. The discovery of newly found moon suggests that they were created after Saturn was fully formed.
